Giving the Calm App a Chance

I'm not a huge New Year's resolution person but this year I did decide to take advantage of a benefit the organization I work for offers – the Calm app. I downloaded the app months ago and logged

in but only used it infrequently, mostly to provide background soundscapes while I tried to fall asleep. But my occasional anxiety (thanks, menopause) has prompted me to turn to it for all of its offerings, including short meditation practices, words of positive motivation, movement tutorials, and sleep stories (I especially enjoy the Humphrey the Cat stories) to induce a peaceful and restful sleep.

I'm only in a few weeks but I can tell it's helping. I'm starting to feel a little more grounded and when my anxiety creeps up I have a few tricks in my bag to hold it at bay. In a few more weeks I'll follow up with details on my Calm journey, but for now I'll just say that I'm glad I made the move to try something new and I'm excited that it could be helpful to my longterm health.

Maybe New Year's resolutions are something we should take seriously. Or, just resolutions, whatever time of year you establish them. If you're moving towards something, no matter how hard it is, you're probably making positive things happen. And you're never too old for that.
